I finally got my X200! After two long months of waited, frustrating telephone calls with UPS and Lenovo, I finally got my Lenovo X200 yesterday.
And let me tell you, the X200 is very, very nice
A few points about the X200 though:
They have this whole intro/welcome setup thing where you enter all your information and details. That’s fine and all, but it utterly fails in comparison to the OS X welcome. When I first booted up my Mac, I was actually filled with nerd-joy at the welcome animation. This time around, the welcome setup made me want to do some accounting. Bleh.
Vista slows everything down. I setup a dual-boot into Fedora Core 10 onto the sucker after 30 minutes of regular usage. But since the X200 doesn’t have a CD drive, I had to turn my USB thumbdrive into a LiveCD and boot off of that. I used my Vista desktop and this nifty little utility, liveusb-creator
I’m really digging the longer battery life, the lighter weight, and the keyboard response. My only criticism is that the F1 key is located where I expect the Esc key to be. This is a big problem for when I use with Vim
I’m torn between using my Mac and the X200. Both are good, I guess I’m having commitment issues.
And on that note, I’ll leave you with the classic Mac vs. PC rap. I’m still not sure if I’m a right-clicker, or a Macbook Flippa:
The X200 has landed!
